The Power of Coincidence
Submitted by Eric Bidwell on Sun, 07/22/2007 - 14:17.
People around me have been both amused and aghast at the news that on 9-11 the New York State Lottery's evening number game popped up the numbers 9-1-1. Is this a paranormal happening? A wink from God? Is there a message here? Read more ...
T.E.D. - Ideas Worth Spreading
Submitted by Eric Bidwell on Fri, 07/06/2007 - 20:56.| I've watched a bunch of these videos of lectures recently and have about 30 that I'm intending to post in the video section. Some of them are great! They're each about 20 minutes so they fit into a busy schedule pretty easily. To start I'd recommend Jane Goodall's "What separates us from the apes?" and Richard Dawkins' "An atheist's call to arms". |

Lucid Dreaming
Lucid Dreaming is dreaming while you know you are dreaming. It specifically refers to the awareness of the dream while it is taking place. This can lead to control over different aspects of the dream, and open the dreamer up to experiences that would be impossible to have in waking life. Although control is often an attribute of a lucid dream, lucidity only refers to the awareness of the dream.
Becoming aware in a dream often makes the dream more vivid and memorable. To the human brain, dreaming an action, and actually doing the action is experienced in the same way. The only difference is that your body is paralyzed in sleep so you don't physically act out your actions.

Can We Survive on the Moon?
Submitted by Eric Bidwell on Wed, 05/02/2007 - 15:48. Overcoming the hazards of lunar life may depend on exploiting the paradoxical potential of the moon's gritty dust.
When Neil Armstrong took “one giant leap for mankind” onto the surface of the moon in 1969, his booted foot sank into a layer of fine gray dust, leaving an imprint that would become the subject of one of the most famous photographs in history. Scientists called the dust lunar regolith, from the Greek rhegos for “blanket” and lithos for “stone.” Back then scientists regarded the regolith as simply part of the landscape, little more than the backdrop for the planting of the American flag. No more. Lunar scientists have learned a lot about the moon since then. Click here to read more... |
